If you wish to optimize your LG TV’s storage space or improve its performance without uninstalling apps, clearing the cache files is the best way to do it. The accumulated cache files of your streaming apps and LG TV browser will fill your TV storage space, resulting in slow LG TV, app errors, and poor TV functionality. To get rid of all this, you should clear the cache files on your LG Smart TV.
As LG TV doesn’t have a dedicated cache option, here are some alternative ways you can follow to remove the cache files from your device.
Best Ways to Clear Cache Files on LG TV
The cache files are generated from apps, LG TV browsers, and system memory. So, by focusing on these three elements, I have developed a cache-clearing solution in the following headings.
Delete System Cache Files on LG Smart TV
Every LG TV model will leverage the TV’s primary storage disk to perform multiple functions. The constant cycle of using the TV memory leads to the creation of temporary cache files that take up additional space. So, to remove the system cache files on your LG TV, go through the following methods.
- Restart Your LG TV – Turn Off your LG TV and turn it On after a few minutes by pressing the Power button on the remote.
- Turn on the Memory Optimizer – Open Settings → OLED Care → Device Self Care → select Memory Optimizer → Hit Start.
Note: The Memory Optimizer feature is only available for high-end webOS TV models. So, ensure to check your webOS version to proceed with this.
Clear App Cache Files on LG TV
To free up storage space and eliminate bugs, you need to optimize the apps on your LG TV. This process will effectively clear cache files and enhance app performance. To do this,
- Close apps that are running in the background – Long-press the Home button on the LG remote to open the Recents section. Here, select the X button over the apps to close background apps on your TV.
- Delete unused apps – Go to the Edit App List tile on the home screen and delete the unused apps on your TV.
Following these methods, you can quickly clear cache files on streaming apps like Prime Video, YouTube, Disney+, and other apps on your LG TV.
LG TV Browser Cache
If you use the LG TV browser app to surf online, it can accumulate cookies and cache data over time. To free up the space and improve the TV performance, ensure that the LG TV browser cache is cleared.
- From your home screen, select the LG Browser app.
- Click the three-dotted icon to open the browser menu.
- From the menu, select Settings.
- Scroll and select the Clear All Browsing Data and Clear Cookies option.
